Vanguard Conversions, established in June 2011 by Mark and Niki, operates from Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. The company was founded after the couple spent two decades building campervans for themselves and friends, driven by a shared passion for campervan life and exploring the outdoors. They pride themselves on creating unique, custom-built campervans tailored to individual specifications and needs, ensuring each vehicle is distinct and perfectly suited to its owner's adventures.
The company offers a comprehensive range of services, from full turnkey conversions for various vehicle types, including VW T6, Ford Transits, Ford Customs, Crafters, Sprinters, Caddy’s, Berlingos, and Connects, to partial conversions and the supply of campervan parts. Their expertise extends to installing elevating roofs, privacy windows, diesel heaters, carpet lining, gas and electrical systems (including lithium and solar setups), awnings, and swivel seats. Vanguard Conversions also provides general repairs and diagnostics, and can source new and used base vehicles for conversion projects, acting as an authorised Ford dealer.
Vanguard Conversions is run by a small team of dedicated campervan enthusiasts who actively test new products and ideas in their own demo vans before integrating them into customer builds. This hands-on approach ensures that all conversions are practical, hardwearing, and built to last, suitable for year-round use in diverse environments. The company fosters a strong community spirit, actively engaging with the 'Vanlife' community on Instagram, where they share updates, offers, and showcase their completed projects, inspiring others to embrace the freedom of exploration.

Made an appointment to come and look at a demo van, absolutely loved it! Excellent service and very informative. The lovely owners were very helpful. Great workmanship, deposit down and can’t wait to get back up to collect it. #happy #adventurebeforedementure #highlands
Terrible service from an elderly lady here very rude and obnoxious. We were in the market to get a van but ended up going elsewhere. Spent £80k with a conversion company in Fife instead. Concern if you have an issue and she’s this rude to a customer looking to spend money never mind if that conversion were to have an issue and you were to call them to resolve it. Looking at feedback I can confirm all who posted negative feedback about this elderly woman’s attitude are indeed correct. I’d avoid as even their products are highly over priced. In relation to a the review and right to reply this is not a fake review, and indeed an accurate experience. But if this is how you respond to reviews I’m not at all surprised by the similarity in all previous negative feedback. The elderly lady I’m referring to has a dog. If you don’t have an elderly lady why comment “maybe she couldn’t hear you?”Retorts with punitive attempts at insults to the reviewer shows a distinct lack of customer focus and complete lack of taking feedback in an adult manner. Actually quite glad to have spent my money elsewhere. I’m guessing all the other multiple negative reviews on the very same subject left are fake also! 🤦♂️🤡
Amazing folk converting even more amazing vans. I called in for an SOS with my own van having electrical failure in sub zero temps. Mark kindly took a look and kindly investigated & subsequently fixed the problem without hesitation. He is extremely knowledgeable & having seen the standard of vans being converted this will be my No.1 stop the day I can afford his overLander!
I picked up my campervan from Vanguard Conversions in Fort William at the weekend after an extensive handover session where everything was thoroughly explained to me. I’d like to say huge thanks to Nicole for seamlessly managing the whole process and to Mark for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. The layout and finish of the van is just perfect. I can’t recommend them enough. Really looking forward to getting out in it for some photo shoots way out west and being warm and comfortable on my night photography outings.
Great finish on my VW maxi caddy! Quick and also the staff extremely helpful and if you organised it online via email like I did always got a quick response. Would really recommend these guys!
