Please note this is an edited review, google did not publish my original review as I named the managing director and this broke GDPR however if you want his name you can find it at company house. The rest of the review is more or less the same, With an update. This is the 3rd vehicle that we have bought from Lyndon’s first 2 perfect not a single problem. My son took over my business last year and wanted to increase our fleet so he approached 2 new vehicle converters who provided very competitive quotes but as we had used Lyndon’s in the past we sought a quote from them, the MD instantly agreed to match the cheapest quote saying they needed the work. The quote included 1 vehicle plus a wheelchair adaptation with clear glass, night heater, M1 floor, a 350Kg lift and a full IVA standard for a vehicle with a radical conversion as per DVLA and city of York council Taxi licensing policy. This was all confirmed on the quotation and on the final invoice. However MD tried to add £350 RFL even though we had agreed an on the road price. This was the start of the problems the MD threw his teddy out of bed he was rude and abrupt to my staff. I spoke to him personally and he said it was an administrative error but did not apologise, the vehicle was due for delivery end October 2025. We chased delivery up several times but always got fobbed off, finally early December 2025 I had had enough and spoke to MD. He advised he had re registered the vehicle from a panel van to a minibus with DVLA so the vehicle did not need an IVA. I advised CYCC would not Taxi test the vehicle without an IVA I also pointed out that I had paid for an IVA. For a company that states they work on over 3000 vehicles per year this is either total incompetence or a blatant Lie. I advised he had breached the contract and I would cancel the contract if he didn’t book the IVA. Due to more administrative errors Lyndon’s didn’t book the IVA until late December 2025. DVLA then advised Lyndon’s they had not produced the stage 1 COC causing more delays. The IVA was finally booked on the 9/1/2026 with a test date of 27/2/2026, 12 weeks later. The vehicle was delivered to Lyndon’s early September 2025. My finance broker became involved he spoke directly with Lyndon’s MD he also experienced rudeness and abrupt behaviour. In the end we complained to Hitachi finance Who agreed with us and decided to unwind the finance package and cancel the order. This happened on the 6/1/2026, It’s now the 9/2/2026 and Lyndon’s MD is refusing to take calls from Hitachi and have so far failed to refund the funds. In the past Lyndon’s have produced their invoices on completion of the vehicles the day before collection.This time they required payment up front advising they could not afford to pay for the vehicle up front.This should have set alarm bells ringing but as we had a good working relationship history I paid the full amount up front £41,200 + VAT £49,400. It is my belief Lyndon’s are in financial trouble and are desperate for work and will grab any work going cutting costs where ever they can even if this means fleecing the customer. Is this supported by them only working a 4 day week, a successful business would be working full time and pushing delivery times back. If you do decide to give Lyndon’s your business DONT pay up front. Get confirmed delivery times and keep on them for updates. When the MD held the sales manager position 2 years ago he was very good at his job, after his promotion to MD he is out of his depth and is dragging a previously good company down. Robert A.
