The Van Cave

Anybody wanting any work done in the Somerset area, l can thoroughly recommend The Van Cave. I came across Chris on T6forum.com and he was local to me as I live in Yeovil. Thought I would give him ago at a few mods I had planned for my van. Can’t recommend Chris enough. My van is almost where I want it to be with only a bed to sort out now. Chris has helped me out with the following: Fitted new THQ headlights at the same time as gloss black grilles. Fitted 240v electrics along with DC-DC chargers etc with solar capability. Fully sound deadened and insulated. Fitted downlighters and halo plus multi colour option LED Strip Light. Replaced rear headlining with one piece and fully relined all roof panels plus A & B pillars with suede. Fitted touch to turn on down lighters to tailgate. Fitted USB sockets in the rear. Fitted adjustable H&R coil overs. Got mirror surrounds sprayed gloss black. Upgraded my leisure battery. Fitted awning rail which he got powder coated satin black. He also supplied me with the most gorgeous set of Inovit Rotor wheels in custom gloss black powder coat. I’m sure there are a few other things I have missed out. Chris has been so knowledgeable and helpful throughout the whole process, can’t thank him enough. Give him a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Visited Chris yesterday at The Van Cave to have ST-X Coil-overs & Wheel Spacers fitted. So happy with the work done: Friendly, informative and for me the biggest thing, I had total trust in Chris which is so, so important. Van felt so good driving home!! Paid my first visit to Chris at The Van Cave this weekend for some slight tweaks on my stance. Chris is professional in every aspect of his work with good communication prior to my visit to discuss the best approach. I’ve owned Transporters for the last 15 years and used many different garages but none have had the passion for vans like Chris does. I’ll certainly be using the Van Cave for any future work I need doing.

Chris offered me fantastic independent advice even when he knew I wouldn’t be travelling to him to have the work carried out on my van (too far from me). If I was a little closer, the van cave would certainly be my first choice. Thanks so much for your time and invaluable knowledge Chris.

I just want to add my own praise and gratitude to Chris at The Van Cave! I visited him yesterday for a set of ST-X coil overs and a couple of other mods whilst I was there. Chris has a passion and attention to detail which makes him someone you can completely trust with your van. Rather than being a stop off on our way to Cornwall, our change in holiday plans meant I made a 7 hours round trip which was totally worth it! The van was a dream to drive and roundabouts are no longer to be feared!

Mightily impressed with the service from The VanCave. Chris installed a leisure battery, 240v hookup with smart charger and 12v/240v power outlets in my T6. The brief included rewiring existing circuits and adding new switches. The work is of the highest standard and post-installation, Chris explained how everything operates very clearly. Chris is passionate about vans and extremely knowledgeable on the topic; his conversion and upgrade work is definitely geared towards the individual van owner and finding the solution that works best for their specific needs. I’m not one to do reviews but thought this was the perfect time. The work by Chris at The Van Cave is exceptional, from the first point of contact I was put at ease by his enthusiasm for the transporter. With lots of messages and phone calls we had a plan and more importantly a date. After a 4hr drive I was welcomed into the cave like I had been there hundreds of times, it’s a fantastic unit with all the equipment laid out for me to view. It’s often quite daunting leaving the van, but not once was I worried. During the week the communication was amazing having an update every evening on the progress. Not all things go according to plan and it’s how these are dealt with that sets Chris apart from a lot of others, nothing was too much trouble. On collection, I was greeted with a clean well presented van and I can honestly say I was lost for words. I’m over the moon with the outcome, exactly what I wanted and more. We already have a list of further modifications and to be honest, I can’t wait. Thank you Chris for all your hard work.

I went down to see Chris today for ST-X coilovers, H&R anti-roll bars and staggered 20″ Inovit Blitz alloys and what a refreshing change to have someone with so much enthusiasm and knowledge work on your van, not someone with no real interest who treats it like any old vehicle. Chris is a really nice guy who clearly loves what he does and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone who’s considering having modifications done to their van, I will definitely be back for more.

I would highly recommend Chris at the Van Cave. Chris fitted out my T6 with a ST-X coil over suspension upgrade, along with an Audio upgrade, additional lighting & extra 12v/switched USB sockets. Chris totally understood my requirements and was able to advise the best options to meet this. I’m super impressed with his knowledge, understanding, attention to detail & customer service. The upgrades have improved the T6 beyond my expectations. Great work.

Bought new Inovit wheels and had our van lowered by Chris at Van Cave. So pleased and glad we had it done, much smoother ride, less boaty on corners and feels like a solid drive. Was recommended to use Chris by a couple of people, and he really is very good indeed! It was an enjoyable process, my wife and I discussing our ideas with him, listening to his advice, and agreeing the final specifications. He sent through a detailed, itemised estimate, and then there were a few subsequent changes that were easily accommodated. The van now drives beautifully and looks amazing! We will be going back to Chris for a few other bits and pieces, and we know it will be a pleasure dealing with him. He is an experienced engineer, who cares passionately about what he does, and about his customers. It would be impossible to recommend him highly enough!!
