It was only by chance that I stumbled across Vanlife Conversions at an NEC exhibition and they were offering everything I wanted. Since then I've not looked back. I love the layout, the superior quality craftsmanship and the behind the scenes stuff too. I would not hesitate to recommend VLC to anyone else. In fact I've told many people already! Thanks to the whole team for everything. 💜

We wanted to buy a camper van for our retirement however when researching we were somewhat underwhelmed with the quality and specification of prebuilt vans. Nothing met our needs and were all rather dull shades of beige. With the expense of purchasing a van being second to that of your mortgage we wanted to make sure we found the right business to build our van. We then discovered Vanlife Conversions in Colchester. I visited to see what they were about and within two weeks returned with my husband so he could see what all the excitement was about. Within a couple of hours we had paid our deposit for a build slot. Immediately I knew Ollie and Emily were the right team. You could feel it ! A small business bursting with pride , ethics of doing business well, extensive skill within the team, knowledge and craftsmanship. I subsequently visited them team at an open day, prebuild planning and final van drop off. We even visited part way through the build to see the progress in the flesh ! A totally unique experience. Both Emily and Ollie were super supportive and helpful creating our plan, listening carefully to what we needed. Their knowledge of design and equipment was extensive. We decided on the Kunu design but asked for some amendments to meet the needs of my disability, travelling with 4 dogs and our love for cooking when away. Dog gates and hooks were added along with an extra large bathroom, coffee machine, freezer and larger than standard fridge. Communication through the planning and build was exceptional and all amendments were meticulously logged. Emails and calls were all responded to promptly. A few changes were made during the build which we were always made aware of. We made a couple of mid build amends to the van which included the addition of side fins at the rear of the van. This have made a significant difference to the width of the bed as well as ventilation in the rear of the van. On reflection a good call. We also decided to add chunkier tyres to the van - WOW they look fantastic and finish off the van perfectly. One of the best bits to the build was the weekly email on Friday which gave us an update on progress , photos and videos. We loved this ! We collected our van in June and was totally in awe with the build quality. The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail is unbelievable. It is truly beautiful. The wood work is flawless. All the equipment works really well. The shower is better than what you find in many holiday cottages and the addition of the drinking water taps saves us from carrying lots of bottled water. The electrical control panel is also easy to follow and understand. Ollie also spent an afternoon taking us through everything in the van as part of the handover. We have been on several trips as we gain experience of camping. We have just returned from 7 days off grid in north Wales. There was heavily rain and wind but the van insulation meant we had a good nights sleep. We also spent more time in the van which we enjoyed as it was well designed bright and spacious. The favourite spot in the van is the front passenger seat when it is turned around allowing you to sit with a small table as you gaze out of the van. The aftercare service is also exceptional and was a key attribute in our decision to have our van built with Vanlife Conversions. Ollie is on hand to support and help you with any queries. This has been hugely valuable for us as we have had a step but fun learning curve to van life ! So if you are thinking of having a bespoke van build - stop searching NOW and go with the team at Vanlife Conversions. We cannot recommend Vanlife Conversions enough. An exceptionally professional, passionate and skilled team with an eye for attention to detail who just love what they do. In addition they are very approachable, knowledgeable with great communication, and have a flare to carefully listen to what you want. They just love seeing their customers happy, And finally, they are great folk to work with.

We started toying with the idea of getting a camper van after we enjoyed a great trip touring Australia in a motorhome a few years ago. However, after visiting the camper van show we were totally uninspired with the factory builds. They were too grey/ beige, too plastic and too cheap looking. After spending a lot of time researching, we came across Vanlife conversions. We really liked the design and aesthetics of the builds ( a little bit of luxury away from home ) and when we visited the workshop in person we immediately knew that we wanted Oli and Emily to complete our build. They were very knowledgable about the all the materials, fittings and equipment and yet also listened carefully to our exact technical requirements ( change of bed height and size / space in garage ) alongside the interior design that we were trying to achieve. The communication throughout the whole process has been exceptional. Everything was explained clearly, emails/ queries were always answered promptly and the weekly Friday update as to how our van was progressing was a joy to receive after a long week at work. We picked up our van at the end of May and couldn’t be happier with it. The finish is amazing (every time we open it up it makes us smile ) All the equipment works really well ( we especially love the shower, the fan and the bed ! 😀) and the interior materials are lovely. We have fully kitted it out now so it really feels like a little bit of luxury on our travels. So far we have done four weekends away in the UK and are now half way through a 3 week trip around the coast of France. The van is working beautifully and it is being tested at 40 degrees. It has been really reassuring to know that if we did have any problems, we can contact Oli with the after sale service. If you are looking to get a camper van built - we can”t recommend Vanlife Conversions enough. Oli , Emily and their team are professional, approachable , communicative and have a very high standard with attentional to detail. A local French camper van owner said it all recently. He strolled past our van , walked backwards to get a better look and then smiled, gave us the thumbs up and said “ C’est très bon ! “ Thank you Oli, Emily and the team. Viv and Mike

Oli and Emily really helped us when we converted our own Peugeot Boxer. We purchased both their Kitchen and Overhead cupboards build plans, which saved hours of planning and measuring. When we encountered a head-scratching moment, they were more than happy to share how they'd overcome certain problems. Most of all, we loved their design ideas, with their vans looking more like a house on wheels than a traditional, old fashioned campervan. We based the rudiments of our design very much on their Kunu model, putting our own spin to suit our needs. Without you guys, the build would have been far more of a challenge and we can't thank you enough. We wish you both the very best for continued success eith the company. D&S

After 15 years of camping, we were ready for something that gave us ultimate freedom without the hassle of pitching and packing up a tent at every stop. We wanted to move seamlessly, wild camp with ease, and have the flexibility to go anywhere. As complete campervan newbies, we had a million questions, but from the moment we spoke to Emily and Oli, we knew they were the team to bring our dream van to life. We chose Vanlife Conversions because their designs stood out - they weren’t the standard cookie-cutter options we’d seen online. Every detail was tailored to our needs, tastes, and lifestyle. Their off-grid expertise was invaluable, especially since we’re living in the van while building our new house. From the very start, they gave us specialist advice on the electrical, solar, and gas setup, which was crucial for off-grid living during a Scottish winter! We needed a van designed around remote work, so Starlink was a must, and they fully understood how crucial it was to stay connected no matter where we were. With three dogs, we also had specific requirements to make the van work for them - and they delivered perfectly on all fronts! Visiting the workshop to see other vans in production was a highlight - it really helped bring decisions to life! We were able to tweak things along the way, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Oli was brilliant at guiding us through the limitless choices and helping us focus on what really mattered. Getting weekly Friday night updates was amazing - we literally counted down the days to see the progress, and we were blown away by the level of detail involved. It was amazing to feel so included in the whole journey. The craftsmanship is absolutely top-notch. The van is both luxurious and incredibly functional. It’s so much more than we could have imagined - every inch of space has been cleverly used, and it's warm, cozy, and perfect for both work and adventure. And the aftercare has been phenomenal. Oli and Emily have been there every step of the way, answering every question and going above and beyond to ensure we’re happy. Their communication has always been prompt, friendly, and so supportive. We couldn’t be more thrilled with 'Rafiki'- our new home on wheels - Vanlife Conversions truly nailed it!
