Campervan Converter in Allens Farm, Essex
VisionTech Automotive is an award-winning Essex-based specialist in VW Transporter and campervan conversions, known for innovative, lightweight designs.
VisionTech Automotive, founded in 2009 by Dan, emerged from his extensive background as a car technician for Honda and a specialist in custom audio and multimedia installations for high-end vehicles like Range Rovers, Mercedes, and BMWs. Initially focusing on vehicle AV systems and interior modifications, the company quickly established a strong network of dealership clients in the South of England. Dan's lifelong passion for VWs, including owning T5s since 2003 and a 1957 Beetle, naturally led the company to debut its first demo VW van conversion at the VolksWorld Show, marking a pivotal shift towards campervan conversions.
The company prides itself on continuous investment in design and productivity, aiming to be at the forefront of the campervan industry. Their conversions are distinguished by the use of lightweight GRP composite units, which are up to 75% lighter than typical conversions, significantly enhancing drivability and fuel efficiency while reducing their carbon footprint. A key innovation is their "In chassis" M1 pull-tested electric Rock 'n' Roll bed, designed for ease of use and comfort, and engineered to work seamlessly with the "Horizon" Elevating Roof System for maximum headroom. VisionTech Automotive also develops its own in-house lithium battery and solar systems, aiming to minimize reliance on 240V mains hook-ups, and utilizes a 3D printing farm for unique, patent-pending products like the e-Grille.
VisionTech Automotive offers a comprehensive range of services, from full turnkey conversions with distinct models like 20/20 Vision, Premier, Beach, and Edge, to bespoke builds tailored to individual client specifications. They also provide ready-made new and used VW campervans for sale and assist customers in sourcing base vehicles directly from local VW dealerships. The company's commitment to quality and innovation has earned them recognition, including a 1st place award at the MCC Motorhome Awards for their 20/20 Vision in the "Best Campervan over £47,000" category. They have also expanded internationally with VisionTech Australia, solidifying their position as a leading independent VW campervan builder.

Have owned a T5 for three years and loved the van couldn’t stand the suspension! Upon looking for advice and getting confused phoned VisionTech! Great advice on why the problem existed and their recommend solution explained in detail the benefits of the conversion. Even promised to return the vehicle to standard and full refund if I was not delighted. Which I am it is now drives and handles in a stunning way. Thank you and could not recommend highly enough.
VisionTech Automotive focuses almost exclusively on VW Transporter conversions. They are considered industry leaders for these vans in the UK. While the company offers several distinct build styles, such as the award-winning 20/20 Vision and the adventure-focused Edge, the Volkswagen Transporter platform remains their core expertise. This specialization allows them to refine every detail of the build process for that specific vehicle.
Absolutely. VisionTech Automotive's [electric Rock and Roll bed](/services/rock-and-roll-beds) is M1 pull tested 'in chassis,' which is a crucial safety standard for vehicle seating. In practice, this means the bed has been rigorously tested to ensure it remains secure and protects occupants during a potential collision. This investment in engineering provides peace of mind and is a key feature of their high-quality builds.
The company's builds are significantly lighter than the competition. VisionTech Automotive achieves this by using lightweight GRP pods, making their conversions up to 75% lighter than typical wood-based builds. As a result, the vans have better fuel economy and are more nimble to drive. They also innovate with in-house technology, such as custom lithium battery systems and 3D-printed components, ensuring their designs are modern and efficient.

Just been shown around by Jordan and absolutely fell in love with the work that VTA carry out was blown away!! Cannot wait to build a lifetimes relationship with their VW Campers.
Brilliant team, absolutely love the vans.
Quality, innovative and bespoke campervan conversions.
I am extremely disappointed with this company!! This is a true and honest review of this company. I delivered my van to vision tech on the 24th Feb 2026 for my van conversion. I was given a completion date of 28th March however was advised that there may be a 1 week delay and was told that they would start a WhatsApp group for customers to see the progression of their vans throughout the build. A few weeks into the conversion I was still waiting for the WhatsApp group to be set up and asked for progression updates however this was still being chased up until the 29th April. 2025. On this date I was told that the bed for the van had to be re-ordered as they had ordered the wrong type of bed. This caused another delay. On the 2nd April 2025 I asked for a further update and they told me that they still couldn’t give me a completion date. Dan replied with ‘I WISH I COULD’. On 9th May 2025 I attended vision tech asking for an update. Dan got really annoyed and was totally dismissive of our complaint. At this stage the horizon roof had been completed however nothing else had been touched. I eventually picked the van up on the 16th May. At the time of dropping the van off I was told a 6 week timeframe however it was 11 weeks in total. This caused me extreme difficulty as the van is my only vehicle and Dan knew of this. I had asked for a carpet for the van and only received the carpet in September 2025 after chasing them and having to return the van in order for the measurements to be taken again. I am still very very disappointed. Having met the payment requests on time on every occasion and sometimes earlier than necessary, there was no reason for any delay in this regard or any excuses. I could see other conversions being bought in to vision tech and completed before mine during that time period. I would not use this company again.
Just like to thank Dan and his team at Vision Tech Automotive for a excellent job of fitting a Horizon slimline poptop to my vw T5-1 finish is first class, best poptops in the Uk, keep up the good work. 👍👍👍
Huge thanks to Dan and the team at VisionTech Automotive for doing an amazing job fixing our Propex Heater and Hi-Lo Pop-Top. They’ve made our van whole again! Everyone was super friendly, helpful and really knew their stuff. We didn’t even buy our van from VisionTech (the original seller totally ghosted us), but Dan and his team still went above and beyond to get everything sorted properly. Couldn’t recommend them more – we wouldn’t hesitate to buy a van from VisionTech in the future. Great people and top-notch service! 🚐👏
Dan and the team at VisionTech were absolutely brilliant. We had an original Hilo roof on our van which needed new hinges, the team there were friendly and really very helpful. Their new Horizon roof system has really been developed to an incredible standard we'll be having one of those on our next van. Thanks for the great experience and keep up the great work.
