How Well Is It Built?
These are straightforward fabric bags filled with silica gel beads, designed for simplicity and function. The build is basic but effective for its purpose. A key design feature is the inclusion of sticky pads, allowing for secure placement on a dashboard or other surface to prevent sliding while driving.
There's not much to the design of the Hillington Car Dehumidifier Bag, and that's its strength. It's a simple, unassuming fabric pouch filled with moisture-absorbing silica beads. The construction is fit for purpose, though some customers have questioned its long-term durability and how many recharge cycles it can withstand .
Size and Placement
While effective, it's worth noting their physical size. One 3-star review mentioned they were "very very small" compared to other options they had seen , so they might look a bit lost on a large motorhome dashboard. However, a fantastic and practical inclusion is the set of sticky pads. One happy campervan owner specifically praised them, noting the "dash sticker works really well" to keep the bag in place while on the move – a simple touch that shows a good understanding of vehicle use.
How Does It Perform?
Performs brilliantly at its primary job of absorbing moisture and preventing condensation. Many customers report completely clear windscreens after just one night's use. The main performance issue lies in the inconsistent and potentially hazardous microwave recharging process, which can be ineffective or even a fire risk.
When it comes to the main event – absorbing moisture – these bags are top-notch. The feedback is overwhelmingly positive, with users calling them "superb" and confirming "they work 100%" , . For van owners and daily drivers alike, they solve the problem of interior window condensation, saving time and hassle on cold mornings . One campervan user found them so effective they use one in the cab and another in the living area .
The Recharge Problem
The product's biggest failing is its recharging process. While being reusable is a huge plus, the microwave instructions are a source of frustration and concern. One user followed the instructions for their 600w microwave, but the bag failed to dry out properly . More alarmingly, another customer reported that their bag caught fire in their 800w microwave, despite reducing the time to compensate . This is a significant safety risk that cannot be overlooked. While the absorption performance is excellent, the recharging process is unreliable and potentially dangerous.
What Features Stand Out?
Standout features include its impressive reusability via microwave drying and the inclusion of handy sticky pads for secure dashboard mounting. Its ability to absorb up to 60% of its own weight in moisture means it can work for long periods before needing to be recharged.
The main features of this dehumidifier are centred around convenience and effectiveness.
Reusability
The key selling point is that the bag is reusable. The instructions advise drying it in a microwave for a few minutes to release the trapped moisture, making it ready to use again. In theory, this is great for long-term value. However, as noted by customers, this feature is flawed. Some found it simply didn't work , while others experienced dangerous outcomes like fires . This makes the primary feature a significant weak point.
Sticky Pads
A small but brilliant feature is the inclusion of sticky pads. For anyone using this in a campervan, motorhome, or car, this is a game-changer. It prevents the bag from becoming a projectile during transit. A 5-star reviewer specifically called out that the "dash sticker works really well" , showing this thoughtful addition is genuinely appreciated by users.
Absorption Cycle
Thanks to its 1kg weight and high absorption capacity, the bag can go for a long time before it becomes saturated. One reviewer noted that "it does take a while before you have to stick in the microwave to dry it out" , which is ideal for those who want a low-maintenance solution.

How Does It Compare to Alternatives?
Compared to disposable moisture traps, these bags offer better long-term value due to their reusability. Against powered mini-dehumidifiers, they are silent, require no electricity to run, and are more portable. The main trade-off is the potentially hazardous manual recharging process, which powered units avoid.
In the world of moisture control, these Hillington bags sit in a sweet spot between single-use disposable pots and powered 12v dehumidifiers. They offer far better value and are less wasteful than disposables. Compared to electric units, they are silent, require no precious socket space, and won't drain your leisure battery. However, their Achilles' heel is the recharging process. While one user noted they felt these were smaller than other non-powered options available for a lower price , their effectiveness is praised consistently, making them a strong contender for anyone needing a simple, powerless solution.

Worked/ but unable to use again
Only used one bag for car! Worked fine! However after use I followed the instructions to wrap it in kitchen paper and to put in the microwave on a 600w for 6 minutes! It didn’t turn white or pink just stayed blue. I left it out for 30 minutes and placed it back in the microwave for 12 minutes. The bag had gone and burst open.
Very effective moisture control.
Superb! I use these in a campervan - one up front and one in the back. They have made a noticeable difference to the moisture in the van. Really easy to use, the dash sticker works really well - not had it slide about once! The colour change indicator is easy to see so you know when to dry them out. There's no identifiable odour comes from them. Highly recommend.
Great little bag
Does exactly what its supposed to do. It does take a while before you have to stick in the microwave to dry it out. Only time will tell on how many uses you can get out the bag before it stops working. Would definitely buy again, sorted out all the moisture within my car.
Fabulous product
I bought these because I have a two seat car which is unusual in that the roof is one sheet of metal which folds back in one piece into the rear of the car. So overnight the metal can get moisture condensing on the metal side inside the car. These bags are amazing since using them no moisture at all and the fact they are reusable is a bonus. They do come with a pad which holds them to the dashboar...
Good product seems to work fairly well
Seem to help a bit (1kg larger bags) put 2 in front of a 14yr old car and stops some of the windshield moisture forming.
They work 100%
Bought these a couple of weeks ago and what an amazing item. Get in car in a morning. Windows outside iced up but clear as a bell inside. No moisture or condensation. Will definitely recommend them. I have one on the dash board and one in the rear foot well pocket.
Solved condensation problem in car
Bought as my car regularly has condensation on the inside of the windscreen at this time of the year, and then it takes ages to clear it before I can drive. Using these seems to have resolved the problem, only had one time so far with a minor bit of condensation and that was alongside a heavy frost, the condensation was nothing like I would normally get. Easy to use, come with 2 bags, I currentl...

This is 10/10. It absorbs water and has totally reduced the dampness on my windows.
Dehumidifier
Good quality, good value for money, easy to use, do not smell, effectiveness had one in my car 5 days still good
Work well but get bigger ones
These are great! Purchased to prevent condensation in my 11 year old mini and they actually work! I think the size matters though as my son got a single smaller pouch and his doesn't seem to be helping much. I bought a 2 pack of the larger ones and there's hardly any condensation now on the inside of my windscreen. I haven't had to put them in the microwave to recharge yet as the blue dots have on...
Easy to use
Works well easy to use , take 2 mins in microwave
Works Brilliantly 🫶🏽
Works brilliantly. No more moisture in my car or on my bedroom window. Great value highly recommend.
Tiny Triangle Heroes Against Car Moisture 💦🚗
These little triangle dehumidifier bags are quietly doing their job, and I’m kind of impressed. The misty windows aren’t as dramatic, and the damp smell is slightly less… aggressive. They stick perfectly thanks to the sticky pads, so no fall..actually recharge them in the microwave, and it works like a charm feels like giving them a little spa day before they get back to work. Not life-changing, b...
