UK Campervan Conversion Cost: The 2026 Price Index
What does a campervan conversion actually cost in the UK? We took the prices 140 converters publish themselves, out of the 675 listed in our directory, and worked out what a build really starts at.

The headline numbers
Every figure below comes from converter-published pricing in the CamperBrain directory, compiled July 2026. All of it is free to quote with attribution.

The regional price gap
Where you have your van converted moves the price more than most buyers expect.
On the raw numbers that is a 7.0× spread between the cheapest and priciest county median. We would not quote that figure without the caveat below: Dorset's median of £6,000 rests on only 5 converters. Set it aside and the gap between West Sussex (£19,995) and Greater Manchester (£41,728) is 2.1×, which is the number we would stand behind.
Cost by county
Median published starting price for the 8 counties where at least 5 converters publish a price. Counties below that threshold are not listed separately, and their converters still count towards the national figures. The largest county sample here is 9 converters, so these are directional numbers, not a census.

The vertical line on each bar marks the UK median of £22,873. Counties are only listed when at least 5 converters there publish a starting price, and rows marked "small sample" sit on that minimum, so read them as indicative rather than definitive.
A caveat on Dorset
Dorset shows a median of £6,000 on 5 converters, well under the national 25th percentile of £12,898. We are showing it because hiding an inconvenient row would make the whole index less trustworthy, but we do not believe conversions there are genuinely a quarter of the national price. On a sample that small, one or two converters who advertise part-conversions, electrical fit-outs or a starting figure for helping with a self-build will drag the median down. Treat any county on 5 converters as indicative only, and take the national median as the reliable number.
Bespoke build vs ready-made campervan
Median published prices split by what the converter is selling. A bespoke conversion price is a starting point for work on your van. A ready-made campervan price usually includes the base vehicle, which is why the two are not directly comparable.

UK Conversion Cost Index, July 2026 (CSV)Methodology
Where the prices come from. Converters' own published pricing, captured as we build and verify the directory: the "from" price a company advertises for a conversion, and its top-end price where it quotes one. These are advertised prices, not quotes we have solicited, and not estimates of what a build ought to cost.
Sample. 140 of the 675 UK converters listed on CamperBrain publish a starting price, and 100 publish a top-end figure too. Everything on this page is computed from those, as of July 2026.
Medians, not averages. We report the median and the interquartile range (the middle 50%), both of which shrug off a single extreme figure. We never headline a raw minimum or maximum.
The £4,000 floor. When we talk about whole conversions we ignore any advertised figure under £4,000, because at that level it is almost always a kit, a part-conversion or a deposit rather than a finished build.
County figures. A county gets its own line only when at least 5 converters there publish a price. That threshold keeps out the noisiest rows, but as the caveat above says, a county sitting on the threshold is indicative at best.
Refresh cadence. The index is regenerated from the live directory each quarter, and this page always shows the compile date of the figures it is displaying. Prices guide budgeting; they are not a quote, because your cost depends on the van, the spec and the finish.
